Dan Ettinger is one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation and inspires audiences worldwide with his artistic expressiveness. He is General Music Director of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of both the Israel Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. In January 2023, he took on the important role of Music Director at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Dan Ettinger conducts at the world’s most renowned opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Washington National Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Opéra National in Paris, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Zurich Opera House, the Salzburg Festival and the State Operas in Vienna and Munich.

In the 2024/25 season, Dan Ettinger can expect an exciting programme in addition to his work with the Stuttgart Philharmonic: he will conduct a new production of the opera Turandot and lead the celebrated revival of Verdi’s Otello in Tel Aviv. He will also conduct the masterpieces Salome, Rusalka and Tosca at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and organise a recital with the talented soprano Maria Agresta.

Dan Ettinger has been Music Director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra from 2005 till 2012 and then since 2018 again. He was also the musical director at the Nationaltheater Mannheim from 2009 to 2016 and was Chief Conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra from 2010 to 2015, with which he now shares the honour of Conductor Laureate. His performances with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra are at the centre of his concert activities.

His most recent engagements include performances at the Opéra National de Paris with Puccini’s Tosca and Massenet’s Manon, as well as at the Royal Opera House with Gounod’s Faust and Madama Butterfly. As house conductor and choir director of the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and as Kapellmeister at the Berlin State Opera, he has developed a versatile repertoire.

Since the beginning of his conducting career, Dan Ettinger has also enjoyed great success on the concert platform. From 2002 to 2003, he was the permanent guest conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Under his musical direction, he has made numerous live and CD recordings with renowned artists such as Diana Damrau, Adrianne Pieczonka, Fabio Martino, Hagai Yodan and Gil Shaham. Particularly noteworthy are the performances of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Mannheim National Theatre and Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Salzburg Festival, which were released on DVD and impressively document his artistic vision.

Aktuell bilden seine Aufführungen mit dem Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra und dem Israel Symphony Orchestra den Schwerpunkt seiner Konzerttätigkeit. Darüber hinaus führten ihn jüngste Engagements zur Opéra National de Paris mit Puccinis Tosca und Massenets Manon, sowie zum Royal Opera House mit Gounods Faust und Madama Butterfly. Als Hausdirigent und Chordirektor an der Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv und als Kapellmeister an der Berliner Staatsoper hat er ein vielseitiges Repertoire entwickelt.

Seit Beginn seiner Dirigentenkarriere hat Dan Ettinger auch auf dem Konzertpodium großen Erfolg. Von 2002 bis 2003 war er ständiger Gastdirigent des Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Unter seiner musikalischen Leitung hat er zahlreiche Live- und CD-Aufnahmen mit Künstler*innen, wie Diana Damrau, Adrianne Pieczonka, Fabio Martino, Hagai Yodan und Gil Shaham eingespielt. Zudem wurden die von ihm geleiteten Aufführungen von Wagners Der Ring des Nibelungen am Nationaltheater Mannheim und Mozarts Le nozze di Figaro bei den Salzburger Festspielen auf DVD veröffentlicht.
