Cassandre Berthon

Cassandre Berthon began violin studies at the age of four at the Marseille Conservatory and took singing lessons at the age of 16. After having successfully participated in national and international singing competitions, at the age of 18 she decided to pursue a professional career as a singer.

 

Since she was 20 years old, she has performed on numerous theatre and festival stages: Opéra Comique de Paris, Capitole de Toulouse, Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the Opera Houses of Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Antwerp and Ghent, Liège, Lausanne, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Halle, Köln, Düsseldorf. She has furthermore been invited by the most prestigious opera houses: Paris Garnier, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Covent-Garden, Opera Amsterdam, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opéra de San-Francisco, New York-City-Opera, Festival of Aix-en-Provence and the Salzburg Easter and Summer Festivals.

 

Among the roles that have most influenced her career are Cherubino (Nozze di Figaro, debut at the Frankfurt Opera), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Susanna (Nozze di Figaro), Iphigénie en Aulide (Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg), Véronique (Opéra de Nancy), Enfant (Ravel – L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Massenet’s Cendrillon (Opéra National du Rhin and New York City Opera), Gilda (at the opera in Besançon alongside Ludovic Tézier) and more recently roles such as Octavie in Massenet’s Cléopâtre, Henriette de France in I Puritani at the Teatro Real de Madrid alongside Diana Damrau and Javier Camarena, Zerlina at the NDR Klassik Open Air Festival.

 

Cassandre Berthon can be heard on several recordings, including “Celebrating Offenbach” under the label “Opera Rara”, “Charpentier & Molière: Hommage Pastoral au Roi Soleil” with the ensemble Amarillis and “L’Etranger” by Vincent Dindy (Festival in Montpellier) with her husband Ludovic Tézier in the role of Vita. The DVDs include Orphée aux Enfers (a production by the Opéra de Lyon), L’incoronazione di Poppea (a production by the Festival d’Aix) and Le nozze di Figaro (a production by the Opéra national de Paris).

 

Recent engagements include a recital with Ludovic Tézier at the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Rigoletto and Massenet’s Manon (Pousette) at the Opéra national de Paris, Thaïs in Montecarlo, Il trovatore at the Teatro Real in Madrid.

 

Future engagements in 2021/22 will take her to La Scala in Milan (Thaïs), Paris (Thaïs en version concert) and the Savonlinna Festival (gala evening).

 

Cassandre Berthon is appreciated as a concert and recital singer. Besides she gives duet concerts with Ludovic Tézier.
