Christel Loetzsch

In the current season Christel Loetzsch sang Arnold Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with the Dresdner Philharmonie under the baton of Marek Janowski, the Trommler in Victor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis with the Münchener Rundfunkorchester under Patrick Hahn and Fricka in Wagner’s Rheingold at Bühnen Bern. Further she will have her role debut as Amme in Richard Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten at Frankfurt Opera and she will sing a Dallapiccola program with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under the baton of Franck Ollu. This summer she will also have her role debut as Giovane Dante in Dusapin’s Il viaggio, Dante at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

 

In 2022 she will be singing the role of Flosshilde in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, as well as Grimgerde in Walküre by Richard Wagner at the Philharmonie in Dresden under Marek Janowski.

In November 2020 Christel Loetzsch sang Penthesilea in Penthesilea by Pascal Dusapin at the Philharmonie de Paris with the Orchestre de Paris and she received a re-invitation from the Orchestre de Paris for Pierre Boulez’ Le Soleil des eaux under the baton of Klaus Mäkelä.

 

In 2019, she made her debut at La Monnaie in Brussels, singing the part of the Witch in Macbeth underworld, a world premiere by Pascal Dusapin and sang Fricka in Rheingold and Walküre by Richard Wagner at the Landestheater Niederbayern.

 

For the seasons 2015-18, Christel Loetzsch joined the ensemble of Theater & Philharmonie Thüringen with numerous successful role debuts, including Octavian (Rosenkavalier), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Ljuboff (Maseppa), Leokadja Begbick (Mahagonny).

 

In the seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14, Christel Loetzsch joined the Junges Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden. There she made her debut as Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Rosina (Barbiere di Siviglia), Cherubino  (Le nozze di Figaro), Oberto (Alcina) and in new productions of Simon Boccanegra, L’Impresario delle canarie and Moskau, Tscherjomuschki, and she got the possibility to work with maestri  as Christian Thielemann, Omer Meir Wellber and Constantin Trinks.

 

In 2012 Christel Loetzsch made her debut in a new production by Franco Zeffirelli as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Arena di Verona under the direction of Daniel Oren. 2013 she made her debut at the San Francisco Opera as Dorabella (Cosí fan tutte) under the direction of Nicola Luisotti.

 

Christel Loetzsch graduated from Musikgymnasium in Karlsruhe, she studied first singing at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar and continued her studies at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Italy.
