Christel Loetzsch

Christel Loetzsch will make her debut in the current season at the Lausitz Festival 2023 in the title role of Philippe Boesmann’s Julie with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sylvain Cambreling. She will also appear in Romeo Castellucci’s new Ring production at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels as Floßhilde (Das Rheingold) and Roßweiße (Die Walküre).

 

In the 2022/23 season Christel Loetzsch sang Flosshilde in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung and Schwertleite in Die Walküre by Richard Wagner with the Dresdner Philharmonie under Marek Janowski. Further she will also have her debut at Teatro di San Carlo in Napels as Schwertleite under the baton of Dan Ettinger.

 

Christel Loetzsch sang during the season 2021/22 with Marek Janowski Arnold Schönbergs Pierrot Lunaire at the Philharmonie in Dresden, furthermore the Trommler in Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis with the Münchener Rundfunkorchester under Patrick Hahn and Fricka in Wagners Rheingold at Bühnen Bern. She gave a strong role debut as Amme in Richard Strauss‘ Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Frankfurt Opera conducted by Sebastian Weigle and sang in summer 22 at the „Festival d’Aix-en-Provence“ as Giovane Dante in Pascal Dusapins Il viaggio, Dante, conducted by Kent Nagano.

 

In november 2020 Christel Loetzsch sang Penthesilea in Penthesilea by Pascal Dusapin at the Philharmonie in Paris with Orchestre de Paris under the battom of Ariane Matiakh.

 

In summer 2019, she made her house debut at La Monnaie de Munt in Brussels in the part of Witch in Macbeth, a world premiere by Pascal Dusapin. In 2019 she also sang Fricka in Rheingold and Walküre by Richard Wagner at the Landestheater Niederbayern.

 

For the seasons 2015-18, Christel Loetzsch joined the ensemble of Theater & Philharmonie Thüringen with numerous successful role debuts, including Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Ljuboff in Masepa by Tschaikovsky and Leokadja Begbick in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny.

 

For two seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14, Christel Loetzsch was a member of “Junges Ensemble” at the Semperoper Dresden. There she made her debut in the roles of Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Oberto in Alcina and got the possibility to gain experience among conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Omer Meir Wellber and Constantin Trinks.

 

2013 she made her debut at the San Francisco Opera in the role of Dorabella in Così fan tutte under the direction of Nicola Luisotti.

 

In 2012 Christel Loetzsch made her debut in a new production by Franco Zeffirelli as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Arena di Verona under the direction of Daniel Oren.

 

Christel Loetzsch graduated from “Musikgymnasium Helmholtz” in Karlsruhe, after which she studied first singing at the University of Music “Franz Liszt” Weimar and continued her studies at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan, Italy. She also holds a “Konzertexamen” of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” Leipzig, having finished in 2018.
