American soprano Hailey Clark, acclaimed by Opera News for her “warm” and “effortless” soprano and known for her dynamic interpretations, has quickly made a name for herself in Europe and North America.

In the current season, Hailey Clark gave her debut with Richard Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder in Ankara together with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. Further, she will celebrate her role debut as Violetta Veléry in Giuseppe Verdi’s La traviata with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, return to the Palm Beach Opera as Contessa in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, followed by her debut as Magna Peccatrix in Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony with the Concertgebouworkest under the baton Klaus Mäkelä, as part of the Gustav Mahler Festival in Amsterdam.

In the 2023/24 season, she gave her debut at the Bayreuth Festival 2023 as Freia in Valentin Schwarz’s production of Das Rheingold, made her role debut as Nedda (Pagliacci) at Austin Opera and made her debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as Queen of Spades in Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest under the baton of Markus Stenz.

In the 2021/22 season, Hailey Clark returned to Central City Opera for her role debut as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and made her debut at the Stadttheater Gießen as Alma Beers in the new production of Brokeback Mountain, a role that she already performed in her European debut at the Salzburg State Theater in 2016, for which she was awarded the Austrian Music Theater Prize in the category “Best Female Leading Role”.

In the seasons 2019/20 to 2021/22, Hailey Clark was member of the ensemble at the Hanover State Opera, where she has performed leading repertoire to great acclaim. In her debut, she starred in Lydia Steier’s new production of La Juive by Halévy, which OPERNWELT called “dazzling” and DAS OPERNGLAS praised for her “big, wonderfully timbered soprano.” She went on to debut the title role of Alcina, for which the HANNOVERSCHE ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG declared: “[Clark] floods the hall with voice and presence; she is a Diva, the likes of which Hannover has not had.” In the 2020/21 season, she performed the roles of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Micaëla in a new production of Carmen, and received rave reviews as the soprano soloist in ‘MYTHOS’ orchestral visual concert, featuring artist Tal Rosner and Sibelius’ Op. 3 and Op. 70 Luonnotar and the soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

The 2018-19 season included debuts at the Palm Beach Opera as Donna Anna and the Austin Opera as Anna Sørensen in Kevin Puts’ Silent Night. She also returned to the Salzburger Landestheater for her signature role of Fiordiligi and the role of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). Debuts on the concert stage featured the inaugural tour with the Columbia Bel Canto Trio, performances with The Santa Fe Symphony (Messiah), the Music in the Alps Festival (Carmina Burana) and debuts at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and Konzerthaus Dortmund in Elektra with the Hessischer Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester under the baton of acclaimed Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

In the 2017-18 season, she joined Theater Basel for three exciting productions, including Lucio Cinna in a premier of Mozart’s Lucio Silla directed by Hans Neuenfels, Fifth Maid in David Boesch’s Elektra, and Anne Trulove in Lydia Steier’s new production of The Rake’s Progress conducted by Kristiina Poska.

In the 2016-17 season, Ms. Clark made her German debut as Fiordiligi at the Stuttgart State Opera and made her debut at Central City Opera in the same role. She returned to the Salzburger Landestheater as Musetta in a new production of La bohème, returned to the North Carolina Opera as Freia in Das Rheingold and to the Florida Grand Opera as Micaëla.

Previous seasons included guest appearances at North Carolina Opera for Donna, Fort Worth Opera as Leïla in Les pêcheurs des perles, and Opera Naples (USA) as Norina in Don Pasquale. She was a member of the young artist program at the Florida Grand Opera for her first performances of Fiordiligi. In the summer of 2014, Ms. Clark was seen at Santa Fe Opera in a featured scene of the title role of Thaïs and covering Marzelline in a new production of Fidelio under the baton of Harry Bicket.

Ms. Clark is a two-time Regional Finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, a 2015 International Finalist in the Competizione dell’Opera Italian Arias Competition (Linz, Austria), and a grant recipient from the Santa Fe Opera: “Award for Outstanding Apprentice.” She is also a the 2014 First Place Winner of the Heafner-Williams Competition, prize winner of The Charlotte Opera Guild Competition and Shreveport Singer of the Year Competition(s), and completed a five-city Concert Tour of China and Inner Mongolia in 2009 as a winner of the Charles A. Lynam National Vocal Competition.

Hailey Clark holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Maryland School of Music. She is also a proud alumnus of the Freie Universität Berlin’s FU-Best program.

Die US-amerikanische Sopranistin Hailey Clark, die von Opera News für ihren „warmen“ und „mühelosen“ lyrischen Sopran gefeiert und für ihre dynamischen Interpretationen bekannt ist, machte sich schnell einen Namen in Europa und Nordamerika.

Hailey Clark gab ihr Debüt bei den Bayreuther Festspielen 2023 als Freia in Valentin Schwarz‘ Inszenierung von Das Rheingold. In der aktuellen Saison wird sie u.a. ihr Rollendebüt als Nedda (Pagliacci) an der Austin Opera und ebenfalls ihr Rollendebüt als Brünnhilde in der neuen Siegfried-Produktion an den Bühnen Bern geben.

In der Spielzeit 2022/23 gab Hailey Clark ihr Debüt als Gerhilde in Die Walküre im Ring-Zyklus der Dresdner Philharmonie, kehrte als Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) an die Palm Beach Opera und als Rachel in Jacques Fromental Halévys Oper La Juive an die Staatsoper Hannover zurück.

Hailey Clark gehörte in den Spielzeiten 2019/20 – 2021/22 zum Ensemble der Staatsoper Hannover, wo sie mit großem Erfolg wichtige Partien ihres Repertoires übernommen hat. Hailey Clark ist zweifache regionale Finalistin der National Council Auditions der Metropolitan Opera, war 2015 Finalistin beim Wettbewerb „Competizione dellʼOpera“ (Linz, Österreich) und Stipendiatin der Santa Fe Opera („Award for Outstanding Apprentice“). Außerdem gewann Hailey Clark 2014 den Heafner-Williams-Wettbewerb, ist Preisträgerin der „Opera Guild of Charlotte Competition“ und der „Shreveport Singer of the Year Competition“. Als Gewinnerin der „Charles Lynam Vocal Competition“ unternahm sie 2009 eine fünf Städte umfassende Konzertreise durch China und die Innere Mongolei.

Clark hat einen Master of Music in Vocal Performance von der University of Michigan School of Music und erhielt ihren Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance an der University of Maryland School of Music. Ebenso ist sie erfolgreiche Absolventin des FU-Best Programms der Freien Universität Berlin.
