Dan Ettinger is regarded world-wide as one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation. He is General Music Director of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. In January of 2023 he assumed his position as the new Music Director of the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli.

Dan Ettinger conducts at some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Washington National Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Opéra National in Paris, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Zurich Opera House, the Salzburg Festival, and the State Operas in Vienna and Munich.

From 2005 to 2012 and again since 2018, Dan Ettinger is Music Director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra. From 2009 to 2016 he was Music Director of the National Theatre Mannheim and from 2010 to 2015 Chief Conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, with which he is still associated as “Conductor Laureate”.

Today, his performances with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra form the focus of his concert activities. In addition, recent engagements have taken Dan Ettinger to the Opéra National de Paris with Puccini’s Tosca and Massenet’s Manon as well as to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden with Gounod’s Faust and with Madama Butterfly.

As House Conductor and Choir Director at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and Kapellmeister at the Berlin State Opera he developed a varied repertoire.

Since the beginning of his conducting career, Dan Ettinger has also enjoyed great success on the concert podium. From 2002 to 2003 he was Principal Guest Conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Under his Musical Direction he has made numerous live recordings and CD recordings with artists such as Diana Damrau, Adrianne Pieczonka, Fabio Martino, Hagai Yodan and Gil Shaham. In addition, the performances of Der Ring des Nibelungen from the Nationaltheater Mannheim and Le nozze di Figaro from the Salzburg Festival, which he conducted, have been released on DVD.

Dan Ettinger gilt weltweit als einer der gefragtesten Dirigenten seiner Generation. Er ist Generalmusikdirektor der Stuttgarter Philharmoniker und Musikdirektor des Israel Symphony Orchestra, sowie der Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. Im Januar 2023 übernahm er die Position als neuer Musikdirektor am Teatro San Carlo in Neapel.

Dan Ettinger dirigiert an einigen der renommiertesten Opernhäuser der Welt, darunter die Metropolitan Opera in New York, die Washington National Opera, das Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, die Opéra National in Paris, das New National Theatre in Tokio, das Opernhaus Zürich, die Salzburger Festspiele und die Staatsopern in Wien und München.

In der kommenden Saison wird er, neben seiner Tätigkeit bei den Stuttgarter Philharmonikern, wo er unter anderem Mahlers Lied von der Erde, Bruckners 5. Sinfonie und das berühmte Cellokonzert von Edward Elgar dirigieren wird, auch eine Neuproduktion der Oper Turandot, sowie eine Wiederaufnahme von Puccinis Madama Butterfly in Neapel auf dem Programm haben. In Tel Aviv wird er zudem Otello und Rusalka dirigieren.

Von 2005 bis 2012 und erneut seit 2018 ist Dan Ettinger Musikdirektor des Israel Symphony Orchestra. Von 2009 bis 2016 war er Musikdirektor des Nationaltheaters Mannheim und von 2010 bis 2015 Chefdirigent des Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, mit dem er auch heute noch als “Conductor Laureate” verbunden ist. Aktuell bilden seine Aufführungen mit den Stuttgarter Philharmonikern, dem Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra und dem Israel Symphony Orchestra den Schwerpunkt seiner Konzerttätigkeit. Darüber hinaus führten ihn jüngste Engagements zur Opéra National de Paris mit Puccinis Tosca und Massenets Manon, sowie zum Royal Opera House mit Gounods Faust und Madama Butterfly. Als Hausdirigent und Chordirektor an der Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv und als Kapellmeister an der Berliner Staatsoper hat er ein vielseitiges Repertoire entwickelt.

Seit Beginn seiner Dirigentenkarriere hat Dan Ettinger auch auf dem Konzertpodium großen Erfolg. Von 2002 bis 2003 war er ständiger Gastdirigent des Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Unter seiner musikalischen Leitung hat er zahlreiche Live- und CD-Aufnahmen mit Künstler*innen, wie Diana Damrau, Adrianne Pieczonka, Fabio Martino, Hagai Yodan und Gil Shaham eingespielt. Zudem wurden die von ihm geleiteten Aufführungen von Wagners Der Ring des Nibelungen am Nationaltheater Mannheim und Mozarts Le nozze di Figaro bei den Salzburger Festspielen auf DVD veröffentlicht.
