Elena Zaremba

Elena Zaremba’s career began at the Bolshoi Theater, where she impersonated all important roles of the Russian repertoire.

 

Since then she has appeared at major opera houses, orchestras and festivals worldwide, including Milan’s Scala, Royal Opera House London, Metropolitan Opera New York, Opera National de Paris, San Francisco, Washington, Cleveland Orchestra, Tokyo, Bologna, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Arena di Verona, Academia Santa Cecilia Rome, Vienna State Opera, Vienna Philharmonic, Salzburg Festival, Bregenz, Edinburgh Festival, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels, Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Berlin, Bavarian State Opera Munich, Hamburg State Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, La Coruña, Bilbao.

 

Elena Zaremba has worked with many famous conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Maurizio Arena, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim, Myung-Whun Chung, James Conlon, Christoph von Dohnányi, Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Jurowski, Carlos Kleiber, James Levine, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Oren, Michel Plasson, Nello Santi, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Yuri Temirkanov and many others.

 

Her repertoire includes the great Russian roles, but she also regularly interprets roles from the Verdi repertoire such as Azucena (recorded with Decca and A. Bocelli), Ulrica (Teldec, Carlo Rizzi), Quickly at all major opera houses and festivals.

 

After her first Wagner roles at the Vienna State Opera in 1993, Elena Zaremba successfully sang Fricka in the Ring des Nibelungen at the Metropolitan Opera New York, in San Francisco, Washington and Madrid.

 

Elena Zaremba is also a sought-after song and concert singer.

 

Numerous CDs and DVDs document her artistic work.

 

Among her most recent projects are worth mentioning: Falstaff/Quickly at the Seville Opera, Andrea Chenier/Madelon at the Liceu Barcelona, Pique Dame/Gräfin at the Savonlinna Festival and at the Rome Opera, Eugene Onegin/Larina at the Washington National Opera and at the Metropolitan Opera, Martha/Iolantha, Mamma Lucia/Cavalleria Rusticana, Larina/Eugene Onegin at the Opéra National Paris, and again Mme Larina at the Washington Opera and Iolantha at the Paris Opera.

 

Most recently Elena appeared in The fiery Angel at the Theater an der Wien and at the Paris Bastille in The Queen of Spades, also in The Queen of Spades at the Liceu in Barcelona, in Eugene Onegin at the Met in New York, in jenufa at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia and as Filipyevna at the Vienna State Opera. Future projects will lead her to Lyon, Paris, and to the Met in New York.
