Austrian director Philipp M. Krenn is known for his innovative opera and music theatre productions.
Since 2014, he has worked as a freelance director at houses including Theater an der Wien (Orfeo ed Euridice), Volksoper Wien (Pinocchio), Theater St. Gallen (Pollicino), Staatstheater Wiesbaden (Peter Grimes, Il trovatore), Malmö Opera (Giovanna d’Arco), Staatsoper Braunschweig (Sleepless, Carmen), and co-directed Rusalka with Philipp Stölzl at Dutch National Opera as well as Elektra at Baden-Baden Festspielhaus.
Recent productions include Wagner’s Parsifal (Tiroler Festspiele Erl) and The Flying Dutchman (Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen). After his acclaimed production of »Le nozze di Figaro« at the Staatstheater Meiningen, he returns in the 2025/26 season to Meiningen for a new production of »Der Freischütz« and to the Graz Opera for »Der Rosenkavalier«.

Mateusz Ługowski’s 2024/2025 season included several debuts on major Polish opera stages: at the Grand Theatre in Poznań as Escamillo (»Carmen«) and Lescaut (»Manon Lescaut«), at the Baltic Opera as Marcello (»La bohème«), at the Wrocław Opera again as Escamillo, at the Polish National Opera (TWON) in Warsaw as Monterone, and at the Baltic Opera Festival as First Nazarene (»Salome«).
🎭 In the 2025/2026 season, he will make his debut at the Wrocław Opera as Miecznik (»The Haunted Manor«/»Straszny Dwór« – S. Moniuszko), Figaro (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Don Magnifico (»La Cenerentola«), and Jochanaan (»Salome«); at the National Opera in Warsaw as Il Commissario Imperiale (»Madama Butterfly«); and he returns to the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk as Marcello (»La bohème«).
