Falk Struckmann is regarded as one of the leading bass-baritones of our time; he has recently expanded his repertoire to include major bass roles with great success.

Highlights of the 2026/27 season include Fafner (Siegfried) under Daniel Harding in Rome, Hagen (Götterdämmerung) in Sydney with Simone Young, and Alberich (Rheingold) at the San Francisco Opera under the musical direction of Eun Sun Kim.

Key roles of Richard Wagner form a central part of his artistic profile, including the Dutchman, King Henry (Lohengrin), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), and numerous roles in Der Ring des Nibelungen. The versatile artist’s repertoire also includes roles such as Jochanaan (Salome), Orest (Elektra), Barak (Die Frau ohne Schatten), and the Doctor (Wozzeck), as well as roles from the Italian repertoire such as Scarpia (Tosca) and Iago (Otello).

From Kiel and Basel, where the foundation was laid for his remarkable career, he conquered the international opera stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House, and the Vienna State Opera, which honoured him for his artistic achievements with the title of Kammersänger. He regularly works with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Christian Thielemann, and Riccardo Muti. Falk Struckmann made his Bayreuth Festival debut in 1993 as Kurwenal, followed by roles in Der Ring and Parsifal.
