We mourn the passing of Pierre Audi, a visionary director and impresario who profoundly shaped the world of opera and contemporary music theater. Born in Beirut in 1957, Pierre studied at Oxford University before founding the Almeida Theatre in London in 1979, transforming it into a hub for innovative and experimental productions. He led the Dutch National Opera for 30 years, during which the company was named Opera Company of the Year in 2016. He also served as Artistic Director of the Holland Festival and later as General Director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, alongside his role at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.
Pierre’s collaborations with renowned visual artists and his direction of nearly 40 world premieres enriched the operatic repertoire with works from Monteverdi to contemporary composers like Kaija Saariaho and Wolfgang Rihm. His productions graced major stages worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and La Monnaie. Known for his artistic freedom, discipline, and unique vision, Pierre was a cosmopolitan figure whose innovative spirit and passion left an indelible mark on international music theater.
He passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2025, in Beijing at age 67. His death is a tremendous loss to the opera world and the artistic community at large. Hilbert Artists Management honors his legacy and extends deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who were inspired by his work.

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Peter Seiffert, one of the most outstanding heldentenors of our time and an extraordinary individual who shaped the world of opera for decades. After a severe illness, he passed away on April 14, 2025, in the company of his family.
Born on January 4, 1954, in Düsseldorf, Peter Seiffert studied at the Music Academy in his hometown. Early on, his exceptional talent became apparent, leading him from initial engagements at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein to the great stages of Europe and the world. His debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Lohengrin marked the beginning of an international career that took him to the most prestigious opera houses in Vienna, Zurich, Milan, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles.
His interpretations of the great Wagner roles – including Lohengrin, Parsifal, Tannhäuser, Tristan, Siegmund, and Stolzing – set standards and established him as one of the most sought-after Wagner tenors of his generation. His performances at the Bayreuth Festival, beginning in 1996 as Stolzing and later as Lohengrin, remain unforgettable. He also excelled in the Italian and French repertoire, such as Otello and Cavaradossi, captivating audiences with his vocal brilliance and artistic depth.
Peter Seiffert was honored with numerous accolades for his contributions to music, including being named Bavarian, Austrian, and Berlin Kammersänger. In 2024, Peter Seiffert was named an honorary member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He also received awards such as the Echo Klassik, the Grand Prix du Disque, and a Grammy Award. His discography stands as a testament to his collaborations with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras of our time.
Beyond his artistic greatness, Peter Seiffert was a man of immense warmth, integrity, and humility. He was a cherished colleague and friend whose passion for music and life was truly inspiring.
