Austrian Baritone Adrian Eröd is a great favorite of both public and press. At his artistic home, the Vienna State Opera, he successfully appeared amongst others as Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, in the title roles of Billy Budd and Pelléas et Mélisande, as Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), Albert (Werther), Marcello (La Bohème) and as Olivier (Capriccio). He also sang the role of Prospero in the Austrian premiere of Thomas Adès’ The Tempest and the leading male role of Jason in the world premiere of Aribert Reimann’s Medea, which was written for him.
Furthermore he appeared at Salzburg Festival (Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier), at Semperoper Dresden (Faninal, Olivier, Ottokar in Der Freischütz and Danilo in Die lustige Witwe), at Teatro alla Scala di Milano (Faninal), Teatro La Fenice in Venice (Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos), at Hamburg State Opera (Pelléas), Oper Frankfurt (Prospero), at New National Theatre Tokyo (Guglielmo, Don Giovanni, Eisenstein, Albert), at Opéra National de Paris (Olivier), Houston Grand Opera (Don Giovanni) and at Chicago Lyric Opera (Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus).
Since his magnificent success with Christian Thielemann as Sixtus Beckmesser in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg he sang the role of Beckmesser also at the Bayreuth Festival, in Zurich, Cologne, Leipzig, Tokyo, Amsterdam and at the Salzburg Easter Festival 2019.
In 2020/2021 he will amongst others appear at the Teatro Real Madrid (Don Giovanni) and at the New National Theatre Tokyo (Beckmesser).
Parallel to his opera career, Adrian Eröd is also extremely successful on the concert stage. He has worked with famous conductors and orchestras such as Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Sir Simon Rattle, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luisi, Helmuth Rilling, Thomas Hengelbrock and Marcello Viotti as well as with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.
As a highly acclaimed singer of Lieder he has given recitals in the Vienna Musikverein, the Linzer Brucknerhaus, the Lisztzentrum Raiding and at numerous Festivals. In 2012 he recorded Schubert’s Winterreise for the Label Gramola.
Adrian Eröd was awarded the title “Österreichischer Kammersänger”.
